The "Bishop's Dinner" was recently hosted at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center for clients of Catholic Social Services. The monthly initiative provides Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez, his auxiliary bishops, and CSS staff and supporters the opportunity to share food and fellowship with those in need in Philadelphia. Guests also enjoyed music from the Good Shepherd Singers, a choral group composed of staff, residents, and alumni of Saint John's Hospice and Mercy Hospice.

This year, the theme was “Building A Hopeful Future Together.” It focused on creating a nurturing and supportive environment for children and families, especially in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. As part of its efforts to observe this month, the Archdiocesan Office for Child and Youth Protection (OCYP) and Catholic Social Services (CSS) partnered to host “The Blue Drive.” Throughout the month employees working at the Archdiocesan Pastoral Center (APC) were invited to remove a tag from a giving tree in the center lobby and purchase care items to support CSS families. On Monday, April 29th, OCYP and CSS invited those participating to gather in the APC auditorium to drop off their donation, fill out notes of prayerful encouragement, participate in raffles and giveaways, and learn more about OCYP and CSS. “Their generous donations to CSS programs
Divine Providence Village (DPV), part of The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence (DGDP) and the Intellectual Disabilities Division of Catholic Social Services, recently marked its 40th anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving. DPV was joined by Most Reverend Timothy C. Senior, Bishop of Harrisburg and a former Auxiliary Bishop of Philadelphia. Bishop Senior served as the principal celebrant and homilist. While serving as a priest of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and prior to his ordination to the episcopacy, then-Monsignor Senior served as Deputy Secretary and later Secretary for Catholic Human Services. As Secretary, he oversaw the charitable works of mercy enacted by the Church of Philadelphia. Those ministries serve the needs of the most vulnerable and at-risk people of the region each day. During his time as Deputy Secretary, then-Monsignor Senior began residing at DPV where he served as chaplain from 1995 to 2010. A DPV resident poses with Fran
