At “Philly’s Biggest Baby Shower” this summer, Catholic Social Services handed out over 3,000 baby items such as diapers, wipes, and clothes to attendees. Over 700 people joined CSS and the Pro-Life Union of Greater Philadelphia for the celebration, including new and expecting mothers, families, and children. The outdoor event also featured a baby parade, food, music, games, raffles, and fun activities for children including a bounce house and face painting.
“Each year, over 5,000 parents throughout the Greater Philadelphia Area contact Catholic Social Services for resources and support services for their families,” said Amy Stoner, Director of CSS’ Community-Based and Housing and Homeless Services Divisions. “Items donated to Philly’s Biggest Baby Shower will directly impact new and expecting mothers who struggle to afford these necessary essentials. We are so grateful to our generous donors, who recognize this vital work and continue to help us be a vessel of hope for so many.”
CSS offers a broad spectrum of services to support new and expecting mothers, regardless of creed, including prenatal and parenting classes; events and support groups; assistance in finding appropriate medical services; referrals for other services for the needs of the women and newborn; and access to baby food, diapers, furniture, and other essentials.
