Catholic Social Services’ Out-Of-School Time Programs (OST) participated in the 25th annual “Lights on After School” celebration to call attention to the importance of afterschool programs along with the resources required to keep their lights on and their doors open. This nationwide initiative is organized annually by The Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit organization with a mission is to ensure that all children have access to affordable, quality afterschool programs.
“Catholic Social Services was thrilled to join thousands of other afterschool providers across the nation to call attention to the critical importance of these services for children, families, and communities,” said Amy Stoner, Director of CSS’ Community-Based and Housing and Homeless Services Divisions.
OST programs run 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. daily during the school year and provide an opportunity for children to grow, learn, and thrive. Dedicated staff and enriching activities create a nurturing environment that supports every child’s unique journey. OST programs provide safe, challenging, and engaging learning experiences ensuring that our students stay on track and excel in their studies.
OST Administrator Tia Kelly said, “CSS OST provides enhancing programs to children and their families to help support working families and emphasize the importance of learning. Our programs incorporate social emotional learning to inspire students to be engaged and provides a safe space for all young scholars.”
OST programs also strive to empower parents to advocate for their children. In addition to programs for children, families are welcomed to the Strengthening Families Program and the Nurturing Parenting Program which focuses on children ages 10-14 and children in grades K-5 respectively.
CSS OST Programs are devoted to building stronger communities throughout the City of Philadelphia. To learn more about CSS OST Programs, check out their website here.
