The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence (DGDP), marked the feast of their patron, Saint Luigi Guanella (Don Guanella) with a special Mass of Thanksgiving. Men and women served by The Communities of DGDP as well as their families and caregivers were in attendance for this prayerful occasion. The spiritual legacy and heritage of Saint Luigi Guanella remains an integral part of the mission of the Developmental Programs Division of Catholic Social Services.

At the Mass, three wonderful families were awarded the “Spirit of Don Guanella” award. The award is given to those who demonstrate the spirit and commitment to help others by putting their faith into action through service. Pete and Regina Bruno, the Hunt Family, and David and Mary Reid were honored for their many years of exemplifying the true “Spirit of Don Guanella”.

The Communities of DGDP also celebrated the 40th anniversary of Divine Providence Village, its intermediate care facility for 72 women over 21 years of age with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities, dementia, and complex medical conditions. (Photos: Joe Bradley/Bradley Digital)
