Catholic Social Services (CSS) provides foster and kinship care services to children between birth and 21 years of age who are in need of temporary substitute care, due to a crisis or chronic condition. The goal of the program is to achieve permanency for children in the briefest amount of time, which allows for safety, wellbeing and prevents children from a return to care.
The requirements to become a foster parent include:
Must be at least 21 years old.
Must have a safe, stable residence with appropriate furnishings.
Must be healthy enough to provide care for children.
Must be able to pass criminal, child abuse and FBI background checks.
Must be able to complete the home study process.
Must be able to provide support to children and their families.
The latest Bishops’ Dinner included an exciting Philadelphia Eagles theme. The Catholic Social Services (CSS) initiative fosters a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for all, featuring sit-down-style meals, musical entertainment, and calls for prayer intentions. The bimonthly Bishops’ Dinner provides Archbishop Pérez, the auxiliary bishops, the Catholic Social Services team, and volunteers with an opportunity to serve and share a meal and fellowship with those who are hungry, experiencing homelessness, and transitioning from homelessness to independent living in Philadelphia. WSFS Bank sponsored the November 21 event.
To learn more about the ministry or to sponsor a dinner please contact Amy Stoner, Director of CSS’ Community Based and Housing and Homeless Services Division, at astoner@chs-adphila.org.
