Families, youth, and individuals who benefit from programs operated by Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS) and in need of personal protective equipment amid the ongoing pandemic are receiving a boost thanks to a donation of 250,000 3-ply masks from Philadelphia-based and Veteran Owned Small Business, Stronghold Group.

Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS) is launching, “Take Back the Month!” This donation drive will support women in need who experience obstacles to obtaining menstrual care and feminine hygiene products.

Ms. Angela Babcock, Director of Nursing for Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia’s (CSS) Divine Providence Village (DPV), was recently selected by the Philadelphia Phillies to be honored as a frontline hero. Angela was selected as one of 41 honorees from a field of nearly 500 nominated frontline workers throughout the Philadelphia area. Angela was nominated by her DPV colleagues for her compassionate care and dedication to the residents, their families, the community, and staff since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. DPV, part of The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence and the Intellectual Disabilities Division of CSS, provides intermediate care for 72 individuals with developmental disabilities who live in a number of group residences on its campus. A group of frontline workers and residents at Divine Providence Village (DPV), part of The Communities of Don Guanella and Divine Providence (DGDP) and the Intellectual Disabilities Division of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS) received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine Tuesday afternoon. In total, 20 individuals including six nurses, five Direct Support Professionals, and three adult women residents were among the first on campus at DPV to receive the vaccination. Six other direct care staff were also vaccinated for COVID-19. The Bucks County Family Service Center (BCFSC), a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS), is pleased to announce that it has received a $2,000 grant from the Bucks County COVID-19 Recovery Fund.

Mercy Hospice, a ministry of Catholic Social Services of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia (CSS), which offers stability and hope to women in recovery from substance abuse— in particular mothers with young children—will once again observe National Recovery Month by participating in this year’s virtual Pro-Act Recovery Walks sponsored by The Council of Southeast Pennsylvania. Pro-Act is encouraging supporters to walk with a few others on Saturday, September 12th or any Wednesday throughout the month. For over a decade, dedicated staff from CSS, along with residents from Mercy Hospice and their family and friends, have participated in the annual walk which celebrates recovery and seeks to end the stigma surrounding those suffering from addiction.
